Day 304: Think Orange

We ended our Think Orange sermon series today, you should really go to our church website and listen to the sermon from today if you weren't there

Thinking Orange, I volunteered (after Kelly asked me) to paint faces for our fall festival/trunk or treat at church. On my way to set up for face painting I got in a fender bender...I just got my new car back yesterday....not a happy day.

After the fall festival we went to IHOP!

haha, I love these girls

Day 302: Victoria's Secret

I love shopping at Victoria's Secret. Everyone is so quick to offer their assistance and if you buy something they put it in a bag with tissue paper so that when you get home it's like you're opening a present to yourself! It's wonderful!

You Might be a Nurse if...

Day 299: Sick Day :(

I don't feel very well, so no pictures today...

Day 298: Strep throat

I woke up this morning and couldn't really swallow very well...so I looked at my throat and I had the nice little puss pockets in the back of my throat...yay.
So I had to call around and find a new doctor and get an appointment so I could get some meds...the doctor thought there was a small chance that it could be mono, so I got a little of my mother's home remedy for all illnesses:

I generally like the burn of Jack Daniel's...but it burns in a bad way with strep throat...a very bad way.

Day 296: Work

I miss the outdoors...

Day 295: Work

when I got off work tonight I walked out with a co-worker and we walked out into the parking lot to discover that someone had "vandalized" her car

those white things are toilet seat liners...they were hung over her mirrors, her windshield wipers, her antenna....I laughed when I saw it, but I don't think it was done as a joke...I kinda think someone might have done it just to be mean...but Shelly laughed about it so it was all good!

Day 293: Be careful what you volunteer to do

I worked on cleaning out a closet at our church today...7 bags of trash and 5 hours later and I'd only cleaned out 1 of the 3 shelves...yay...

Day 292: Tom Cruise or Spiderman?

My silly roommate was trying to slide across the floor in her socks...rather unsuccessfully, and she kept making these really funny poses/facial expressions. So I talked her into continuing to do it so I could take pictures of her...these are my favorites

She totally doesn't look like she's sliding across the floor...I don't know what she was doing.

Day 291: Skeletons, Spiders, and Ghosts, Oh My!

Taylor has been begging Ren to decorate the house for Halloween, so Ren and I went to the store and got fake spider webs, spiders, ghosts, lights, pumpkin garland, skeletons, etc... and after a few hours of hard work and Taylor telling us where to put everything we finally finished...

we had to sweep off all the pollen and dust that had collected underneath the furniture on the front porch which really annoyed my sinuses, but Taylor was so happy after we were finished that all the sneezes where totally worth it!

Day 290: Orange is a Strategy

Today at church we were told to think Orange.

Yellow (the light of the church) + Red (the love of family) = Orange

The church only gets about 40 hours per year with a child. The family gets about 3000 waking hours with their child. So the idea is for the church and the family to work together to raise children and teach them about God (go to our church website and listen to the sermon series for more details: foresthillsmacon.com)

In our college/career-age/young-adult small group we discussed our role in the whole Orange concept. Now while we aren't quite to the point of raising kids, or even ready to think about having kids, we did talk about the importance of family in the church and how that'll affect our choices.

I always say that I'm not going to have kids, but that's not necessarily because I don't want to. I would love to have a family...one day. but I won't even consider the possibility of a family and kids until I find someone that understands the whole Orange Strategy. The most important thing in my life is my relationship with God, and before I could even consider getting married or having children I need to find someone who I could be open and honest with, someone who will talk about God and encourage me spiritually. Until that day, I can still be a part of the whole Orange thing by living my life so that others can see God in me, by volunteering at church and reinforcing the values and beliefs that Ren and Jeremy are teaching Blake and Taylor. SO if you're reading this, I challenge you to Think Orange and figure out a way that you can be involved.

Day 289: Georgia National Fair. It's BEAR-tastic!

At lunch one day last week, Jeremy was telling us about a TV show where they said something about a fair being "bear-tastic" Adriane thought he said "fair-tastic" and long story short Kelly and Adriane went to the fair and took pictures of random things and adding "-tastic" to the end of it.

We went to the fair today and Kelly told me that she'd give me $10 if I did the same thing...so I did, except I sent the pictures to Kelly. Here they are:

"Corn-tastic"

"Milk-tastic"

"Tee pee-tastic"

"Wallaby-tastic"

"giraffe-tastic"

"Ride-tastic"

...I was gonna do a "monkey-tastic" picture...but the money was being inappropriate...

Day 288: Adventures with "the Turd"...

My car kinda broke last night...very sad day. So today we called around and a good friend of ours said that I could borrow his car for a while, which is awesome! I've heard stories about this car of his. He's offered it to several people to drive and there are some people who have actually refused to drive it. It is one of only 4 cars of it's kind in the entire Southeast US (Nissan Axxess). This is because this car wasn't very popular in the US so no one really bought them... they call his car "the turd" cause it's brown and basically looks like a piece of crap. It's like a little mini van.
I had never actually seen this car until today. Walking into the back parking lot to pick up my "new ride", I'm not gonna lie, kinda made me anxious. There was a truck parked in front of "the turd" and it kinda felt like that moment on Extreme Makeover, right before they unveil the house...except instead of elated feelings of joy and anxious anticipation, it was fear and slight amusement. You can't look at this car and not laugh...which I'm not even sure it could be considered a car. It drives more like a truck (S-10 to be exact), is the size of a car, but looks like a van.

So trying to stifle my laughter (unsuccessfully, I might add), Trooper jumps in, cranks it up, and enticingly revs it up so we could hear the gentle rumbling whine of the engine. Meanwhile, Jeremy is falling into hysterical fits of laughter as he holds his iPhone in preparation for the moment that I have to actually get in it. After being told about its issues, temperamental tendencies, and how to deal with all of it (oh and putting some air in the tires and checking the oil), I climbed in and drove off into the sunset...

Features of "the Turd":
  • manual windows
  • stick shift
  • no air conditioning
  • crazy automatic seat belt that automatically moves when you open the door (like my old car)
  • tape deck
  • speedometer (which works sometimes)
  • sliding rear doors
  • oh and a random jerking that apparently happens now and again which can only be solved by turning off the car and restarting it (I'm a little worried about this happening while I'm on the road and not in an area where I can just turn it off...pray for me)
But despite all of this, the car actually drives pretty well...but it was a little embarrassing when I drove up to the Automotive place that has my car and all of the mechanics were leaning to get a better look at the car as I parked (I knew they were looking cause once I got inside they all pretended like they had to go somewhere or that they had just finished doing something important...but none of them actually left the room...they all just kept glancing out the window.)

Day 284: You Again

Girls night at the movies!

there was a creepy owl...

I like owls. They stand for wisdom, but there's also this kinda superstitious thing that if you see an owl then that its supposed to mean that someone you know is gonna die...I'm not superstitious, but even if I was this owl is fake ...so no dead people.

Day 283: 10/10/10

So today is October 10, 2010...10/10/10, and at 10 minutes after 10 am this morning I managed to get a picture of my watch while I was at work. It was 10:10 on 10/10/10!

Oh and today my sister ran the Chicago Marathon in less than 5 hours! I am SO proud of her!!

Day 278: Name?

Things about my car
1. Driving an automatic makes me feel lazy
2. being able to push a button and have your window go down is like the coolest thing
3. its easier to drive with your knee when you're driving an automatic...not that I drive with my knee...its just an observation
4. packing up is WAY easier when there are 4 doors on your car
5. cup holders are "classy"
6. being able to drive anywhere I want at any time during the day without having to think about how hot/cold it'll be in my car is absolutely blowing my mind
7. locking and unlocking doors without having to lean all the way across the car totally rocks
8. sun visors are awesome
9. I can't decide if my car is a girl or a boy....and I don't know what to name it...Help?!

So what should it's name be? Whoever gives me a good name for it will win a prize!

Day 275: Frosty Locks

Brian Regan. I laughed so hard tonight that my cheeks are still sore from smiling

the spotlight made Brian look illuminated...like Jesus or an angel

this picture is better

the head at the bottom of this picture belongs to a girl that would not stop laughing...she was annoying...it's a miracle that she's still alive

people to my left

people to my right

I didn't get pictures of everyone else who was with us...

Day 274: Sit

I've started to teach Scooter some tricks. We've got sit down, but it's hard to train scooter when Jack is sitting there showing off all of the things that he knows how to do...

I also discovered that I suck at playing with little green army men. I was playing with Brett and I started making shooting noises and he rolled his eyes at me, knocked the army men over and walked away...

Brett is 2.
