Day 31:Trust the mule

There were 2 things we were always told while we were in Haiti. "We must praise Him!" and "Trust the mule." The mule carried most of my stuff, so I trust the mule...and the little Haitian people that pushed me up the mountain.

Today we had a lunch at church to raise money for Haiti and to talk about the mission trip we took last month. I had to help serve food, so I gave my camera to Sarah to take pictures, but she basically only took pictures of herself…and they were all blurry.

So I had to get someone else to take a picture of my Haiti crew working in the kitchen

We served red beans & rice, fried chicken legs, fried plantains and a roll. Then we had a short presentation and a 20 minute video of our adventures in Haiti. We ended up raising about $4700!

Day 30: Blank Inside

I love Barnes and Noble. I would live there if they would let me. I've only gotten in trouble there once, and I'm pretty sure that guy was new cause I wasn't really doing anything wrong... Anyway, I was looking at the journals and photo albums they carry at Barnes and Noble when I stumbled upon the card area.

Greeting cards seem kind of pointless to me. I personally think they are a waste of money. I know that people usually give them with the best of intentions and I like it when someone sends me a card in the mail, but to be handed a card just seems stupid. Greeting card sections are so specific that it takes forever to find the right one for the right occasion. I used to just buy cards at random and give them to people for their birthdays, like: "congratulations on your new baby" or a pink princess card and then give it to a boy. Then there's the Blank inside section. Those just frustrate me. My favorite comedian, Brian Regan, has a whole slew of jokes about greeting cards and he talks about the blank inside cards and how pointless they are. So while I was staring at these cards in Barnes and Noble, it was hard to explain to the people giving me strange looks that I was giggling because I was remembering Brian Regan jokes. Between that and the glares I gave the pharmacology books in the nursing section, I was sure that the new guy was gonna try to ask me to leave the store again.

Day 29: Pharmacology, Pharmacology, and more Pharmacology

Pharmacology is the bane of my existence. Studying drug information and implementation makes my brain melt. Basically everything has the potential to kill you, so you should just eat organic foods, exercise and hope that you don't get sick.
Next week I have 2 Pharmacology tests and I'm not ready for either one of them. We also have the "Exit" exam in less than a month and to prepare us for this they made us take this 4 week online study course. This course is very informative and nice and everything, but its hard. Very hard. It's a ton of information and it makes me feel completely incompetent. Anyway, it has a pharm module on it that took me FOREVER to complete. So I dislike it even more now. Then today I was also studying my pharm notes...that wasn't so fun either. If I knew everything about nursing school that I know now, before I decided to go into nursing, then I don't think I'd have done it.

More pharmacology...boo!
So this is my life. I spend my days either studying or in class, but I don't think I'm actually remembering any of it. I only get to see the sun while I'm walking to class. I'm going to die from vitamin D deprivation. Luckily we have medications to fix that....

Day 28: El Tequila

My roommate and I went to El Tequila for dinner and got daiquiris. I don't think they put any alcohol in it, but I really like the cup that it came in.

Day 27: Status Cravings

I have decided that I'm a fat kid. Today I had to buy doughnuts because my friend, Meredith, said that she wanted a doughnut on her facebook status. Just reading it made me crave it and I realized that I have a problem. I am addicted to food. Good news is I only spent like $1 on the doughnuts!

These were Mere's and Emma's

Day 17-26: The 'Ham

My nieces and I went to Effingham to visit my parents. It was a very busy weekend, but it was good to see everyone.
My nieces held hands on the way to church. They are so precious!

Day 16: BIG BANG MARATHON!!!

I spent the day with my friend Sarah and we played phase 10 (i lost), blockus (i won!), and then we had a Big Bang Theory Marathon! If you haven't seen Big Bang Theory, then you are missing out because it is comedic GENIUS! Sheldon is probably my most favorite television character ever.
Oh and this ---->
This is me winning! I used the 1 piece last, which means you win even more! (I don't really know how you get points in Blockus. I just know that you are supposed to use all your pieces and if you use the 1 piece last then that's good)

Day 15: Downtown Grill

Our Haiti Mission Team got together for a nice dinner at Downtown Grill in Macon. It was absolutely delicious! We had a fun time catching up and talking about the trip. We also got to talk about the devastation from the earthquake in Haiti. It was a bittersweet evening.

I love these girls!

Days 12-14: Haiti

So I don't have an actual picture that I took during these days. But on the 12th a massive earthquake hit Haiti and it broke my heart to hear the news that day. I went on a medical mission trip to Haiti on December 26-31 and I think I left my heart in those mountains. The people there had such joy in life and a faith in God that I am envious of.

This was our medical clinic.

This baby was so cute! We made her that pink bracelet she's wearing.

Day 11: Two Birthdays

Two of my friends' birthdays happened to be over the break, so we went to Little Tokyo to celebrate their births.

Amy ate a LOT of food!
Actually Amy is the best cause she shared with me and it was pretty much amazing!

The Birthday Girls!

Day 10: FHUMC

My brother-in-law is the youth pastor/contemporary worship leader at Forest Hills United Methodist Church (FHUMC). So whenever I visit my sister, we usually end up spending a lot of time at the church. We took my two nieces there to play while "daddy" worked, They had so much fun and were so worn out that the baby fell asleep on the scooter. She's just so cute.

Day 9: The Hummingbird

My old roommate's boyfriend's band played at this bar in downtown Macon.

I'm not sure what she is wearing...that's just Janet. But she pulled it off. Some guy even hit on her...so apparently this look works.

Days 1-8: The Beatles!

The first week of January I basically spent at my church in Macon, painting stuff for The Beatles Sermon Series. It took a long time, but I think it turned out pretty well...

I'm actually not that big of a fan of The Beatles. I mean I like some of their songs and I know their names, but I can't tell them apart. But this sermon series has been great! Go to foresthillsmacon.com and check it out!

Project 365

So I'm starting this blog because my friend Amy was doing this thing called Project 365, and she encouraged our whole group of friends to do it too. It's where you take a picture every day for 365 days and post it on here. I'm already behind because I didn't even hear about this until a few days ago, so it's more like Project 365 minus like month...but I'll try to catch up.
